Animated film Finding Nemo has taken top spot at the UK box office in its first three days at cinemas nationwide. The film, which entered at 11 the previous week after being given an early release in just two cinemas, took £7.38m between Sunday and Friday. Bad Boys II fell to number two with takings of £1.48m, while budget horror film Cabin Fever was third. Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1, which was released in London only last Thursday, went in at 11. It took £131,041 between Friday and Sunday, after opening at just one cinema in the capital's Leicester Square. Spellbound, which follows the US "spelling bee" phenomenon, took £57,735 at just 13 cinemas across the country - but took more at each individual screen than any other film except Kill Bill and Finding Nemo. It was nominated for best documentary at this year's Academy Awards, but lost out to Michael Moore's Bowling For Columbine. Finding Nemo's hold over the UK and Ireland box office is likely to be shortlived, with Kill Bill Volume 1 being fully released in both countries on Friday.
