PRAGUE: Juventus’ midfielder Pavel Nedved says he is retiring from international football after the Czech Republic’s friendly against Serbia Montenegro on Wednesday. “Tomorrow’s (Wednesday) game will be my last,” the 33-year-old told a press conference here on Tuesday. Nedved, who has pledged his future to Juventus despite the scandal-hit club being relegated to the Italian second division after being found guilty of match-fixing, added: “It’s not been an easy decision to make. I’m not suffering from any health problems but there are quite a few other factors involved and I want to give a chance to some younger players.” Nedved, European Footballer of the Year in 2003, has scored 18 goals in 90 appearances for the Czech Republic. He retired from the international scene after Euro 2004 only to return to help the Czechs qualify for the World Cup. The father of two has starred in three editions of the European Championships, helping his country to second place in 1996 and the last four in 2004. www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1047477
