By VOA Sports 27 June 2006 Former Italian international and Juventus football player Gianluca Pessotto has fallen from a window at the team's headquarters and is reported in serious condition. The Juventus press office said Tuesday the 35-year-old Pessotto was taken to a Turin hospital, where he had numerous fractures, but his injuries were described as non life-threatening. Pessotto became Juventus's sports director at the end of last season after playing for the team for 11 seasons. The French news agency, AFP, says police are investigating the incident as a suicide attempt, and that Pessotto climbed out onto the window sill of his office holding a set of rosary beads and jumped off. The club has recently been implicated in a massive match-fixing scandal in Italy. Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters. www.voanews.com/english/2006-06-27-voa51.cfmwww.newsnow.co.uk/newsfeed/?search=pessotto
