Serie A Week 38 - 14/5/06 (14.00 UK)
Stadio San Nicola, Bari (neutral ground)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reggina will be keen to cause a major upset against Juventus in what could prove to be the most important match of the season. Quite simply anything other than a defeat for La Vecchia Signora would see them carry off Scudetto number 29. But their hosts will be eager to show they are a real force in Serie A by playing a huge part in what could be a historic last day in the Italian top-flight.
Despite their earlier stumble that allowed Milan back into the Scudetto race Juve will be full of confidence going into this vital encounter. After setting a new club record of 27 matches without a defeat the Bianconeri must feel unbeatable, especially after Zlatan Ibrahimovic finally broke his scoring drought in the win over Palermo.
With the League title so close Fabio Capello will be guarding his players against any complacency as they bid to turn that confidence into a trophy. With the Rossoneri facing a tricky tie with Roma they will know that their fate is very much in their own hands, even if they will need to overcome the absence of the suspended Patrick Vieira.
Reggina will be angry at being robbed of their final home match of the season after this game was moved to Bari as punishment for earlier crowd trouble and will want to make their point on the pitch. Former Juve striker Nicola Amoruso will also want to show just what he can do after equalling Mohammed Kallon’s club record of 11 Serie A goals in a season and will want to break that record against his former club. A top-half finish may be mathematically beyond them but they will want to finish as high as possible despite Ivan Franceschini and Alessandro Lucarelli’s suspensions.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reggina: Pelizzoli; Cannarsa, Lanzaro, Giosa; Mesto, Biondini, Tedesco, Vigiani, Modesto; Cozza; Amoruso
Juventus: Buffon; Balzaretti, Thuram, Cannavaro, Zambrotta; Camoranesi, Emerson, Giannichedda, Nedved; Trezeguet, Ibrahimovic
