Manchester United legend Denis Law is recovering from surgery for prostate cancer.
The club has revealed that he underwent surgery in hospital on Tuesday after the condition was discovered at an early stage.
His daughter Diana, who is a press officer at Old Trafford, said her father was in good spirits.
She added that the family were confident he would make a full recovery.
Law was a hero at Old Trafford in the 1960s and 1970s and was known by fans as "the King of the Stretford End".
He scored 227 goals in 481 league matches, 30 goals in 55 internationals and remains United's leading goalscorer in European competition.
