The South American consortium looking to take over Aston Villa plans to install their own management team. Venezuelan Gustavo Cisneros has been linked with a £40m takeover at Villa. Cisneros is believed to be close to formalising his plans and a statement released in Venezuela suggests they do not include Villa boss David O'Leary. The statement read: "We have been instructed to draft a new management plan which must include a number of South American personnel." While that could include any number of positions at Villa Park, the preceding paragraph of the statement would make ominous reading for O'Leary. The bulletin was written for senior executives and read: "In light of recent speculation regarding the loyalty of current manager David O'Leary towards Aston Villa FC, it is advisable when the acquisition of a controlling interest in the club comes to fruition that ultimately alternate leadership and management teams shall be installed." O'Leary was recently linked with a return to former club Leeds United, though denied any truth in the claims. Lawyer Mel Goldberg will broker the Aston Villa deal between Cisneros and chairman Doug Ellis. Cisneros, a billionaire media businessman and a fluent English speaker, will hope to have the same affect on Villa that Roman Abramovich has given to Chelsea.
