www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/feb19g.htmlWhile Adriano risks a ban on video evidence for slapping an opponent, Inter are tracking another Brazilian striker by that name to pick up the slack. Adriano Rodriguez has impressed with his club Juventude in the Viareggio youth tournament, scoring a goal that defeated the Nerazzurri squad. The 20-year-old has a Spanish passport and is currently plying his trade in Uruguay, so he would be available as an EC player. Several other European and South American outfits are said to be following his progress, but Inter hope to pounce for this latest starlet at a time when their strikers are firing blanks. The San Siro side signed the ‘original’ Adriano Leite Ribeiro when he was just 19 years old and playing at Flamengo. He hasn’t hit the back of the net in Serie A for nine rounds and the tension is beginning to show, as he could be hit with a ban using video evidence. Adriano was caught on camera slapping Livorno defender Alessandro Grandoni during yesterday’s 0-0 draw at the Stadio Picchi. The 24-year-old last celebrated a goal with his brace against Cagliari on January 15 – his only strikes in 2006 – but this season has scored in just seven of his 25 Serie A appearances. If this situation continues, then Adriano risks losing his place in the Brazilian starting line-up for the World Cup, as Real Madrid’s Robinho is pushing to take over.
