Adriano has been taken to hospital for further tests after he was knocked unconscious by a clash of heads during the 4-1 win over Empoli.
The Inter striker, who had opened the scoring in tonight’s game, rose to meet a cross and accidentally clattered into defender Raggi 14 minutes into the match.
Initial images of the Brazilian were worrying, as he had lost consciousness and required several minutes of treatment from the Inter medical staff, who were trying to ensure he did not swallow his own tongue.
Adriano was awake and moving his arms when he was stretchered off the field and will be kept in hospital overnight for observation.
A scan has given him the all-clear and reports from the clinic suggest he is not suffering from any serious symptoms. He has already rung his mother in Brazil to reassure her of his condition.
“He suffered a blow right to the temple,” explained Coach Roberto Mancini. “Thankfully, Adriano is now fine and was already much better when we saw him in the locker room. As a precautionary measure, he will spend the night in hospital.”
