Serie A Week 13 - 27/11/05 (14.00 UK)
Stadio San Filippo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inter will be expecting a comfortable win when they travel to Sicily for their match with Messina. The Nerazzurri will be looking to put their inconsistent run of results behind them to ensure there is no chance of an upset in this encounter.
The Milan outfit are in danger of becoming the also-rans in the race for Lo Scudetto as Fiorentina try to usurp their position in Serie A’s big three. In a season that many predicted could finally be their chance to win major silverware, they are already 10 points behind the League leaders and five off the Viola and city rivals Milan.
As well as gaining all three points form this encounter, Internazionale will also be hoping that Adriano can get his name on the scoresheet. The Brazilian’s uncharacteristic lack of goals has been a major problem this season and they will need an improvement from him if they are to catch up with the title race.
Messina will be motivated by very different reasons, as the fear of relegation is still looming large in their rear-view mirror. They have looked more composed in recent weeks, but they are still struggling against Serie A’s more established clubs. While one point currently separates them from the bottom three places, that is not the kind of safety margin that Coach Bortolo Mutti will be happy about.
Luckily his mood will be lightened by the return of Riccardo Zampagna even if he will have to make do without the injured Zlatan Muslimovic and the suspended Jose Mamede. The Giallorossi will be looking to take advantage of their opponent’s shaky away form, but they will have to be on top form as strangely they are yet to win a match on home soil.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Messina (probable): Storari; Cristante, Rezaei, Zanchi, Aronica; Coppola, Donati; Giampa, D’Agostino, Sculli; Zampagna
Inter (probable): Julio Cesar; Cordoba, Materazzi, Samuel, Favalli; J Zanetti, Pizarro, Veron; Figo; Martins, Adriano
