Roberto Mancini has told his Inter squad that they must be fully focused on the job at hand if they are to beat Porto tomorrow night.
The Nerazzurri were defeated in the Dragao Stadium a fortnight ago, but they remain in pole position to qualify from Group H.
With six points from their opening three matches currently putting them top of the table, another win would put one foot in the next stage.
“We must concentrate on Porto and try to beat them so we can progress without any problem,” Mancio told the club’s official website.
“We must be focused and try to win and play well. We have to play as a team because in certain moments in our last two matches we haven't. This mustn't happen. We must be very calm and play with clear heads.”
Adriano’s recent form has seen the big Brazilian come in for plenty of criticism and Mancini was quick to play down rumours of a rift between them.
“Do I find him difficult to manage? I'm sorry that he's not going through a good period, but I have a nice relationship with him and seeing that I was also a striker I can certainly give him some advice about what to do on the pitch,” he continued.
“But a lot depends on him and on what he wants to do. Sometimes you do little when you want to show a lot.
“He does one of the best jobs in the world, he's a good-looking boy, if he always trains hard he won't have any problems. Now he just needs to stay calm and train hard. It's not as if he's ill.”
The last word goes to Mancini’s opposite number Co Adriaanse. The Dutchman has endured a tough start to his Portuguese adventure, but he is clear of what needs to be done to defeat the Nerazzurri in an empty San Siro.
“We need to score goals and to be more effective,” he said. “They have a better squad than we do, with very experienced players and a very secure defence.”
Inter (probable): Cesar; Cordoba, Materazzi, Samuel, Favalli; Figo, Veron, Cambiasso, Solari; Adriano (Cruz), Recoba (Martins)
