www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/oct7c.htmlInter defender Nicolas Burdisso is being lined up as a January transfer target by Serie A new boys Ascoli. The Bianconeri have had a better start to life in Serie A than most expected – suffering just two defeats while conceding only seven goals in their six games – and they currently sit in 14th spot. The addition of Burdisso, an experienced Argentinian international who won Olympic gold at the Athens games in 2004, would bolster their rearguard for the season run-in. The club has reportedly made tentative enquiries about taking the former Boca Juniors man on loan in the January transfer window. The move would likely be attractive to the player as well as his chances of first team action with the Nerazzurri seem likely to be limited and he will need to be playing to have any chance of making Jose Pekerman’s squad for the 2006 World Cup Finals. The 24-year-old joined Inter in the summer of 2004 on a four-year deal but has managed to make just eight Serie A appearances as he has been on compassionate leave.
