www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/sep8h.htmlInter stopper Walter Samuel’s third appeal against a three-match ban for spitting has resulted in failure. The Argentine international was handed the suspension for apparently spitting at Pavel Nedved during the Italian Super Cup tie against Juventus. Samuel, who maintains he was innocent despite what the TV pictures suggest, already missed the opening day win over Treviso. The Nerazzurri were hoping to get his enforced stop cut but he will now definitely miss the ties against Palermo and Lecce. "We have taken note of this decision," stated a frustrated Inter President Giacinto Facchetti. "We are disappointed, especially for the player. He has been penalised both technically and morally because of this suspension." Samuel only arrived at the San Siro in the summer after his drawn out transfer from Real Madrid was finally completed. Inter boss Roberto Mancini will now have to resume with a central defensive partnership of Marco Materazzi and Ivan Cordoba. The San Siro giants are also presently dealing with an injury to first choice right-back and captain Javier Zanetti. The South American will probably be replaced in the line-up by former Perugia wing-back Jose Ze Maria.
