www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/sep1f.htmlInter failed to sign Bordeaux right-back David Jemmali on Wednesday because the player was in training when the Italian outfit called! The 30-year-old was targeted by the Serie A side as they looked for a temporary replacement for the injured Javier Zanetti. But the Moroccan-born player was unable to discuss the move because he was training when the call came through, and the transfer market in Italy closed at 7pm on Wednesday, as opposed to midnight in France. "It’s just incredible," said the Bordeaux stalwart. "It’s not some little village in the south of France that contacted me. It’s Inter! A big club! "Just after 7pm - following training - I had my agent on the phone. He told me that while I was training Inter had made contact and were very interested in signing me. "Unfortunately, we weren’t able to talk about it at the time." Bordeaux President Jean-Louis Triaud confirmed that the rumour had reached his office. "No one from Inter contacted me," he said. "But it’s true that around 6pm I did hear something on the grapevine to the effect that David could interest Inter. "At any rate, I’m very happy he’s staying here." Jemmali, who has been at Bordeaux since 1997, was not overly disappointed at missing out on the move. "I don’t have any regrets," he said. "Bordeaux’s a club that I love and I’m more than happy here."
