www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/aug30d.htmlInter chief Giacinto Facchetti believes Adriano is on the way to being crowned European Footballer of the Year. The Brazilian sensation is one of the world’s best strikers and left his mark on the opening round of Serie A with a hat-trick against Treviso. "He is a great player," Facchetti told Datasport. "If he continues to improve then he will be a Golden Ball candidate." However, the club legend did admit that Inter would have to be successful in order for their attacker to be recognised. "It is true that those who have won the Golden Ball have always achieved great things with their club," he added. "Let us hope that we can give Adriano a helping hand this season." The San Siro giants have again started the campaign with realistic Scudetto ambitions and the club official is in optimistic mood. "We have all the tools necessary to win something this year," continued the former Italian international. "We have put together a very competitive squad and we are all aware that we need to be protagonists this year. "What do we need to win? We need to keep our feet on the ground at all times. There is a lot of work to do and much to learn. But we could go very far."
