skysports.planetfootball.comby Patrick Goss Robbie Blake has insisted that he was told he could stay on at Birmingham and battle for a first-team place, but opted to complete a move to Leeds United. Blake returns to the Championship after just half a season in the top-flight, but has been impressed with what he has seen at Leeds. "It's an amazing place to be around," the former Burnley man told Sky Sports News. "The facilities are second to none and I hope we can be back in contention this year." Leeds forked out around £800,000 with add-ons, but Blake is no stranger to being a big-money signing. "I don't think you can worry about a fee," added the 29-year-old. "I think once you go out there you concentrate on your game. "You look to prove your worth to the club and show it's money well spent." Blake had the option of remaining in The Premiership, with Birmingham boss Steve Bruce happy for the striker to make his own decision. "The gaffer was fine," confirmed Blake. "He said I could stay and fight for my place and try to get in the team."
