TURIN, Italy (AP)— Inter Milan's newly signed Brazilian striker Adriano and Juventus forward Marco Di Vaio scored two goals each in a 2-2 draw Wednesday in the first leg of the Italian Cup semifinals.
Adriano scored in the 3rd and 34th minutes at Stadio delle Alpi. Di Vaio temporarily evened the match at 1-1 in the 7th and then equalized again in the 70th after Inter was reduced to 10 men for a hand-ball foul called on Inter goalkeeper Francesco Toldo in the 63rd.
Adriano also scored twice in Inter's 4-0 league win against Siena on Sunday. He rejoined Inter from Parma last month and now has four goals in three matches for the Milan club. He opened the scoring when Juventus defender Mark Iuliano left him unmarked to convert from seven meters (yards) off a pass from Uruguayan forward Alvaro Recoba.
Juventus replied four minutes later after Toldo's clearing attempt bounced off a Juventus player and right to Di Vaio, who had little trouble scoring.
Adriano's second goal came on a bouncing header from the edge of the goal area off another pass from Recoba.
Toldo was expelled for using his hands outside the area to block a shot by Fabrizio Miccoli. On the ensuing free kick in the 65th, Miccoli's shot around an Inter wall bounced off the post.
Five minutes later, Di Vaio took a pass from behind and beat Inter's inexperienced reserve 'keeper Alex Cordaz from the center of the area without even looking at the goal.
Besides Miccoli's shot, four other balls hit iron.
A header by Juve's Croatian defender Igor Tudor bounced off the post in the 47th. A header by Inter's Turkish midfielder Buruk Okan off a Recoba free kick banged off the cross bar in the 58th. Adriano hit the post on a long shot in the 62nd and a free kick by Juventus' second-half substitute Pavel Nedved was deflected off the cross bar in the 88th.
Perhaps looking ahead to its Serie A showdown with AS Roma on Sunday, Juventus began the match with several of its top stars on the bench and only fielded Alessandro Del Piero and Nedved midway through the second half. Inter started with a lineup similar to that of its recent league matches.
Inter takes an away-goals advantage into the return leg Feb. 12 in Milan.
AC Milan hosts Lazio Thursday in the other semifinal.
