Inter have confirmed that they are keen on bringing back Ronaldo to the club – just two years after he walked out on them.
The Brazilian joined Real Madrid in a £30m deal following the 2002 World Cup despite the Italian club’s support through his two-year injury nightmare.
Ronaldo, who left because of his relationship with then boss Hector Cuper, has said in the past that he would be willing to return to the San Siro.
And now ‘The Guardian’ is reporting that Inter’s technical director Marco Branca is planning to make an approach.
"We are very interested in Ronaldo," said Branca. "We think he has always been the greatest. A transfer is a real possibility. He is the son of Inter."
That statement has helped to increase speculation that Christian Vieri may be coming to the end of his Inter career.
The Italian is being continually linked with a move, especially after he was fined yesterday for pulling out of the squad which faced Udinese in the Italian Cup.
"I think Christian Vieri is very, very far from moving at the moment," added Branca. "We are quietly concentrating on our championship and we won't consider any bids."
However, that view isn’t exactly mirrored by Inter chief Massimo Moratti. "Every player has a price," he said yesterday.
While Inter’s director general Massimo Moretti stated: "The Vieri situation is a complicated one. A situation that is constantly evolving."
Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and even Milan are being linked with possible bids for the 30-year-old.
