The Nigerian Football Association want Inter’s Obafemi Martins punished for pulling out of the African Nations Cup. The young striker was called up for the Tunisian tournament but he rejected the call because of his commitments to the Nerazzurri. "It is possible that Martins will be punished," explained President Ibrahim Galadima. "Players need to understand that they are not indispensable. I’m really shocked by his decision." The African country is believed to be considering banning the player and then asking FIFA to make it applicable at all levels. However, it is highly unlikely that the world’s governing body will stop the player from appearing for his club. Nigeria boss Leo Martial did want the teenager to star but that would have meant him being away from his club for around 40 days.
