Alberto Zaccheroni is confident of UEFA Cup progress despite drawing so-called 'giant killers' Sochaux. “Everyone was impressed with the way they eliminated Borussia Dortmund in the second round,” conceded Zac after a 6-2 aggregate drubbing, “and before the draw they were one of the teams to avoid.” “However, we are Inter so we must be and indeed can be stronger than any side out there.” The Nerazzurri were placed in the UEFA Cup draw following their elimination from the Champions’ League and begin this new adventure in February 2004. “We have the time to study our opponents carefully and find their weak points,” continued the Coach. “Sochaux are among the best French sides right now with several Under-21 internationals and their captain Pedretti.” However, their previous exploits against previous Finalists Borussia Dortmund have boosted morale in the French camp. “It is a wonderful gift to play Inter,” insisted Director of Sport Albert Genghini. “It is tough, but our victory against the Germans has taken away any feeling of inferiority we may have had.” This is Sochaux’s first UEFA Cup campaign since reaching the semi-finals in 1981 and they believe that can be an advantage. “There is a very important element working in our favour,” added the former French international, “and that is the fact we are complete strangers for Inter.”
