Fabio Cannavaro has confessed that Inter still feel inferior to the big teams and could struggle against Juventus. “The game against Arsenal proved we have not yet surpassed these psychological problems,” he noted following the 5-1 home defeat. “This team is still in the recovery process and a change of management is not enough to turn a new leaf. We must be more certain of our own abilities and take on the big sides without fear.” The Nerazzurri have struggled to beat the other Scudetto contenders in recent years, failing to beat any of their main opponents last season, and now come face to face with leaders Juventus. “We have no alternative but to get up and lick our wounds after the Arsenal defeat. Inter must get back on its feet as soon as possible or it’ll be another hammering on the cards.” Their history at the Delle Alpi does not bode well, as Inter have not won here since 1993 and in that period have scored just one goal from the penalty spot. Stars Christian Vieri and Marco Materazzi have not even made the trip to Turin due to injuries picked up during the encounter with Arsenal, but Fabio Cannavaro has recovered. “To go in to the Stadio Delle Alpi in order to aim for a win and play on level terms with Juventus would be a huge step forward for us psychologically,” concluded the Azzurri captain.
