Ronaldo has again expressed his desire to play in the Nerazzurri shirt once again and was met with a favourable response by the club.
“The feelings I have for Inter are very strong,” admitted the Brazilian after Real Madrid’s 0-0 draw at Partizan Belgrade.
“I will always have the Nerazzurri fans in my heart and really hope that in the near future I can go back there. It would be wonderful to play with Inter again.”
Il Fenomeno made no secret of the fact he only walked out on the club following a spat with Hector Cuper, but now that the Argentine has been sacked he could make a shock turnaround.
“I am glad Cuper was fired,” he announced. “The Coach had treated me badly and brought nothing to Inter and over the last two or three years only disappointed the fans with an ugly style of play.”
There are several different issues that could make this move possible, including the fact Real Madrid have only paid a small fraction of his £30m fee.
“My contract expires in 2006,” added Ronaldo, “but you never know in football. One cannot predict the future.”
The recent FIFA ruling ordered Madrid to hand over an extra £7m within 30 days after Santiago Solari’s proposed switch to Inter collapsed.
It is possible that with the inclusion of Ivan Cordoba and wiping the debt clean Ronaldo could come back at the end of the season.
President Massimo Moratti was asked about these latest statements from the striker and noted, “I will only say that there is a strong bond between Ronaldo and Inter. It is still too early to discuss anything else.”
