Javier Zanetti is confident that Inter are progressing under new Coach Alberto Zaccheroni. “We all have faith in Zaccheroni and the work we are doing under his guidance,” noted the captain ahead of Wednesday’s Champions’ League clash with Lokomotiv Moscow. “Everyone in the team is open and ready to listen to him, and vice versa. We all want things to change, to see a better Inter line-up that will attack and not make so many mistakes in defence.” Although they reached the European semi-final and took second place in Serie A last season, Hector Cuper’s style of play was often criticised as negative. “We are working towards giving Inter the initiative rather than sitting back,” revealed Zanetti. “I think that is an important and positive step in the right direction.” Zaccheroni makes his Champions’ League debut on the Inter bench tomorrow evening, as assistant manager Corrado Verdelli was in charge of the 3-0 defeat in Moscow a fortnight ago. However, the captain insists that reports his teammates were plotting Cuper’s downfall were false. “Nobody was against Cuper. He also tried to change things, but the results just didn’t come. This is football.” The Argentine was the first Inter player to hold a conference in over a week, as the team called a press silence. “There should be less talking and more work. We must all stay relaxed and calm in order to work well, giving our responses on the field of play.”
