Chievo boss Gigi Del Neri maintains his underdogs can play a Halloween trick on star-studded Inter this evening.
“On paper,” insisted the tactician, “there should be no question over who the winner will be. The players at Inter’s disposal are world class. But anything can happen in football.”
Currently the Flying Donkeys are above the Nerazzurri in the Serie A table and have the opportunity to push them further down the standings.
“Chievo, let me be absolutely clear on this point, will go out on to that field in order to win. We have already proved that we are capable of it.”
Inter have only ever beaten the Verona-based side once in four meetings and have never won in the Stadio Bentegodi.
Considering their current crisis and the short length of time Alberto Zaccheroni has had to impose his tactics, it could almost be argued that Chievo are the favourites.
“Against some teams,” explained Del Neri, “the sit and wait tactic increases your chances of losing. We will come out and attack Inter because we have nothing to lose.”
