Alberto Zaccheroni has urged Inter to remember their quality and use that to beat the aggressive Chievo this evening.
“We have a much higher standard of technique in our squad compared to Chievo,” noted Zac, “and we must try to prove that fact in order to win.”
The Nerazzurri currently lie nine points behind the leaders and will make their second appearance under Zaccheroni’s guidance.
“The team worked well throughout the week and I have every reason to be optimistic about this match.”
His debut encounter was a 0-0 draw with Roma, but Inter have only ever earned one draw and a defeat at the Stadio Bentegodi.
“This match has many hidden dangers and we must try to approach it in the correct manner. Chievo are no longer a surprise package and they deserve their current position.”
Zaccheroni’s record against Gigi Del Neri is even less encouraging, with one draw and a 3-1 defeat during his spell at Lazio.
“Del Neri’s side has greater depth and aggression than most,” continued Zac. “They really believe in themselves and are on form, both physically and psychologically.”
The tactician is set to make changes from the stalemate with Roma, bringing in the previously injure Emre Belozoglu to back up the front two of Christian Vieri and Alvaro Recoba.
Kily Gonzalez makes way for the Turkish international, while ex-Chievo star Luciano should replace the injury-ridden Francesco Coco.
Surprisingly, Giorgios Karagounis has not even been included in the squad travelling to Verona.
