www.sportinglife.com/football/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/05/11/09/SOCCER_England_Bonus.htmlThe England squad are set to net up to £300,000 a man if they lift next summer's World Cup after reaching agreement in principle with the Football Association over their lucrative bonus package. The agreement came in a meeting with the players' committee ahead of this weekend's friendly against Argentina amid news that fears over the fitness of Ledley King had eased. Gary Neville, who is ruled out of Saturday's game through injury, joined team-mates David Beckham, Michael Owen and Sol Campbell for the talks with FA officials in the squad's Manchester hotel. Exact figures have yet to be finalised, but it is understood that the players have negotiated an increase on previous bonuses, which would have brought them up to £250,000 if they had lifted the trophy in 2002. FA director of communications Adrian Bevington revealed: "It was a very constructive meeting, the first on the subject of World Cup issues, including team bonus payments. "We are delighted that agreement has been reached in principle after the first discussions." The exact bonuses for each player will depend not only on the squad's progress in the tournament but also their level of participation in the team.
