news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/women/4467199.stmAn injury-time own goal gave England an eighth victory from their last nine games, as Scotland coach Anna Signeul's first official match ended in defeat. The Scots, who beat England in a recent closed-doors game with a Julie Fleeting goal, fell behind to a goal from Amanda Barr, who then saw a penalty saved. Arsenal striker Fleeting equalised with a free-kick from outside the box. Then with the last attack of the game Eniolu Aluko surged down the right and her cross deflected in off Julie Smith. The unfortunate late winner takes Scotland's international record to one win and 19 defeats and Fleeting admitted that there were disappointments in the camp. "I don't think we competed as well as we could have done up front," she said. "Defensively we were solid but we can produce a lot more going forward, but we have a new coach and a new way of playing so hopefully we can go on a step from here." England coach Hope Powell was pleased with the resilience shown by her players. "The second half was a lot better than the first and on reflection of play I think we just tipped it," she said. "We kept believing in ourselves and went for the win, we passed it a lot better and created a lot of chances. "The disappointing thing is we didn't score more goals but I can't take anything away from Scotland. It was a hard-fought contest and good for us leading up to the European Championships."
