Serie A Week 22 - 29/1/05 (19.30 UK)
Stadio Via Del Mare
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the sacking of Silvio Baldini, new Lecce Coach Roberto Rizzo is set to be thrown in at the deep end with the visit of Inter to the Via Del Mare.
Defeat at Ascoli left the Salentini rock-bottom and proved to be the final straw for Lecce's second Coach of the campaign Baldini. The new man, inexperienced ex-youth boss Rizzo, has vowed to save the Giallorossi from relegation but he could not have a harder start to his spell in charge. He can only ask for his side to make a good account of themselves here.
Inter have emerged as Juventus' main challengers for the Scudetto and while they still trail the Old Lady by eight points, they will be desperate to keep the pressure on with a win here.
Roberto Mancini will be keeping a very close eye on one Lecce player in particular. Mirko Vucinic looks likely to sign for the Nerazzurri in June and the five-goal Serbian talent will surely be looking to demonstrate why.
Rizzo has a thin squad for his daunting task. Veteran goalkeeper Vincenzo Sicignano, Alfonso Camorani, Guillermo Giacomazzi, Alex Pinardi and Babu' are all injured, but Cristian Ledesma is ready to return. Inter are still without Ze' Maria and Alvaro Recoba due to injury and also Dejan Stankovic who is still suspended. Obafemi Martins is on international duty at the African Cup of Nations.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lecce (probable): Benussi; Polenghi, Diamoutene, Stovini, Rullo; Cassetti, Giorgino, Ledesma, Delvecchio, Valdes; Vucinic
Inter (probable): Julio Cesar; Burdisso, Cordoba, Samuel, Favalli; J. Zanetti, Veron, Cambiasso, Figo; Cruz, Adriano
