Serie A Week 20 - 18/1/05 (19.30 UK)
Stadio Tenni
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It will be a real David and Goliath encounter as second placed Inter travel to second from bottom Treviso. Both sides will be eager to take all three points here as while the Biancocelesti will be desperate to move out of the relegation zone, their opponents will not want to let themselves be overtaken by city rivals Milan.
Unfortunately for Inter some of their players will be playing on the other side of the Mediterranean in Egypt. The African Cup of Nations has hit the Nerazzurri harder than expected. First to go was Obafemi Martins but this was widely expected. Less expected was the call-up for the Nigerian’s planned replacement Victor Obinna. To make matters worse the absence of Cameroon’s Pierre Wome, not ordinarily a cause for too much concern, has been highlighted by injuries to Giuseppe Favalli, Jose Ze Maria and youngster Marco Andreolli has left them without a natural full-back. They will need to overcome these problems to see off a resurgent Treviso. Dejan Stankovic has also picked up a two-match ban.
The Biancocelesti are looking to achieve Serie A survival at the first attempt. Although still struggling to find their feet, draws with Cagliari, Messina and Udinese and a win over Lecce has given them a platform to start from. The help them continue to improve Coach Alberto Cavasin has already brought in a total of six new players in the January transfer window. Only two of these are likely to start in this match though, as Marco Borriello and Gianni Guigou look to improve Treviso’s fortunes in front of goal.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Treviso (probable): Zancope; Dellafiore, Cottafava, Gustavo, A Filippini; Parravicini, Pinga, E Filippini; Giuliatto, Guigou, Borriello
Inter (probable): Julio Cesar; J Zanetti, Materazzi, Samuel, Cordoba; Figo, Veron, Cambiasso, Solari; Cruz, Adriano
