(SomaliNet) Palestinian Islamic Jihad group claimed responsibility Saturday for three rockets fired at Israeli targets earlier in the day, saying it was in response to the killing of its members. A local Islamic Jihad radio station in Gaza said the group's Al Al Quds Brigades fired the rockets a day after Israeli undercover forces in the West Bank city of Jenin killed three Islamic Jihad members Friday. One of the three rockets reportedly hit a house in an Israeli border town, causing damage but no injuries. A fourth soldier was killed and six others wounded when a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in eastern capital, a separate statement said. Earlier military statements said that three U.S. soldiers were killed and eight others wounded in the same day, bringing the death toll Thursday to seven killed and 17 wounded. The names of the killed soldiers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statements added. More than 2,360 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. In recent weeks, the U.S. military and Iraq troops have staged a campaign in the capital with an aim of putting the rampant violence there under control.--Xinhua somalinet.com/news/world/World/10142
