Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren will remain as an England coach for the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign after deputising for Brian Kidd at Euro 2004. McClaren has a good relationship with ErikssonKidd, who withdrew from the set-up prior to Euro 2004 after suffering from cancer, will become a scout. "I'm delighted to confirm Steve's role with the England team," said head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson. McClaren added: "Working with the England team is a tremendous honour, so I am delighted to be continuing." McClaren first worked under Eriksson in the 2002 World Cup qualifying and finals campaign before stepping down to concentrate on his Boro career. But his decision to continue with England after re-joining the squad for Euro 2004 comes with the approval of Boro chairman Steve Gibson. Eriksson continued: "We really enjoy working together and I'm sure we can continue developing the team during qualification for the World Cup finals in Germany in 2006. "We are both determined to achieve success with England. "I know Steve believes he can combine his role with Middlesbrough." And of Kidd, Eriksson commented: "It was only illness that prevented him working with us during Euro 2004, which he is thankfully making a full recovery from." news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/3561970.stm
