news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/republic_of_ireland/3525284.stmThe Republic of Ireland will take on Holland in a June friendly as part of their preparations for the 2006 World Cup qualifiers. The clash will take place in Amsterdam on 5 June and as part of the agreement, a return match will be held in 2006. Manager Brian Kerr added: "It's great to have this game as we prepare for the qualifying matches. "We need to test ourselves away from home and they don't come much harder than the Dutch in Amsterdam." The contest will be the first between the sides since Jason McAteer gave Ireland a famous 1-0 victory at Lansdowne Road in September 2001. Holland have the upper hand, having won eight of their 17 meetings. The Republic have already confirmed friendly fixtures against the Czech Republic on 31 March (home), Poland on 28 April (away) and Romania on 27 May (home).
