news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/4490789.stmThe Football Association has charged Sir Alex Ferguson for his comments after the match against Newcastle. The Manchester United boss had claimed there might be a "sinister" reason behind what he felt was a lack of spot-kicks being awarded to his team. He reacted strongly after referee Neale Barry refused Alan Smith a spot-kick in the 2-1 Premiership win on 24 April. The FA has given Ferguson until 26 May to respond to the charge of improper conduct against him.
