www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/oct3b.htmlMarco Materazzi has defended his foul on Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Derby d’Italia even though it forced the Juventus star out of the game. La Vecchia Signora emerged victorious from the full-blooded clash between the two Scudetto contenders, but they had to do much of it without their Swedish ace. Inter’s downfall proved to be the number of free-kicks that they conceded around the edge of their box, one of which came from a horror tackle by Materazzi on Ibrahimovic. “There is no problem between myself and Ibrahimovic, we sorted things out after the match,” said the former Everton stopper. “We hugged and smiled at each other. “It was just a foul that occurs during a game. He jumped over me and I tried to tackle him, but hit him on the ankle instead. That is how it went.” Ibrahimovic’s Bianconeri teammate Pavel Nedved had blasted Materazzi’s challenge after the game, insisting that there is no place for it on the field of play. But despite clarifying the situation, Materazzi refused to issue an apology. “Apologise? There’s no need for that”
