Serie A Week 4 - 21/9/05 (19.30 UK)
Samuel 49 (I)
Stadio Bentegodi

Walter Samuel marked his Serie A debut in an Inter jersey by scoring the winner at the Stadio Bentegodi.
The Nerazzurri travelled to Verona looking for their first away points of the season, but were without the injured Adriano and Javier Zanetti. Walter Samuel made his Serie A debut with an Inter jersey after his three-match ban for spitting at Pavel Nedved in the Italian Supercup Final. It wasn't set to be an easy task, as Chievo were fresh from two wins on the trot, although defender Lorenzo D'Anna was suspended.
Inter had the first chance after two minutes, as Julio Cruz sprung the offside trap and fired straight at the goalkeeper. Former Inter shot-stopper Alberto Fontana also blocked an Alvaro Recoba strike from distance.
Roberto Mancini's men kept up the pressure with a series of headers from Cruz and Samuel going close. The best opportunity came on 33 minuts when Samuel was left completely unmarked on a corner kick, but his looping free header was well wide with the entire goal to aim at.
39-year-old goalkeeper Fontana flew to palm out a powerful Recoba special from the edge of the area. The Uruguayan really should've opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time when Luis Figo's cross beat the goalkeeper, but Recoba's glancing header was wide of the target.
Fontana was kept busy throughout the first half and smothered a Cruz volley from close range, reacting quickly to grab the loose ball as well.
Inter eventually broke through in the second half, as a Figo corner kick found Samuel's header despite being dragged back by Sammarco on the edge of the six-yard box.
Recoba attempted to score a free kick from just in front of the corner flag, but it whistled just over the bar. Adriano was not 100 per cent fit, but still came on for the final half-hour in place of Cruz.
Federico Giunti required a goalline clearance to keep out Dejan Stankovic's glancing touch on a Juan Sebastian Veron corner kick.
