Boss Roberto Mancini has told his Inter side that they will have to be at their best to defeat Champions League minnows Artmedia.
The Bratislava outfit are widely regarded as one of the weakest in the competition, but Mancini isn’t taking his modest rivals for granted.
"You can’t afford to underestimate any side in the Champions League and we are not underestimating Artmedia," he said ahead of Tuesday’s game.
"I have seen their qualifying games against Celtic and Partizan, as well as their last two domestic matches.
"I will repeat that they are a side to be respected because they are not in this competition by chance.
"Therefore, if we want to win then we will need a great Inter. Seeing as our home games will be played behind closed doors, our away ties are worth double to us."
Mancini, whose men lost 3-2 at Palermo on Saturday, is expected to make some changes to his line-up in Bratislava this evening.
He’s set to field Ivan Cordoba at right-back, allowing Walter Samuel – currently suspended in Serie A – to play in the centre.
"That is an option," admitted Mancio. "Even if I could also stick with Jose Ze Maria on the right, allowing me to rest either Cordoba or Marco Materazzi.
"David Pizarro or Juan Veron? I will simply have to assess their condition before selecting the side.
"I could use Cristiano Zanetti but his eventual inclusion would change nothing tactically for us."
Artmedia boss Vladimir Weiss has accepted his side face a tough evening but he is remaining optimistic.
"Inter are clearly stronger than us," he stated. "Nevertheless, we will try our best against them. We are not scared of anyone and this is the right occasion to demonstrate that."
He then joked: "I think I’ll have spaghetti for a starter on Tuesday, then Inter for the main course."
Artmedia (probable): Cobej, Burak, Borbely, Debnar, Durica, Vascak, Kozak, Petras, Tchur, Halenar, Hartig.
Inter (probable): Julio Cesar, Cordoba, Samuel, Materazzi, Favalli, Figo, Cambiasso, Veron (Pizarro), Stankovic, Adriano, Martins.
