www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/aug8g.htmlAdriano has admitted that he cannot wait for the new season as Inter prepare to face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. The Nerazzurri’s campaign gets underway on Wednesday when they come up against the Ukrainian champions. Despite his shorter pre-season break, due to the Confederations Cup, Adriano is expected to play – and he can’t wait. “I had only a fortnight's holiday and I tried to have a good rest after the end of last season and the Confederations Cup,” he told the official Inter website. “I'm fine now and hope I can help out my teammates on the pitch. “I want to play a great qualifier and show once again what I can do. I want to show everyone that I have improved." With several key signings this summer from Real Madrid – Luis Figo, Walter Samuel and Santiago Solari – Adriano is optimistic about what the season holds. “The club has certainly made some very important buys for the team,” he continued. “You can see that the squad has a different mentality, and we're playing in a different way – let’s hope we have a good season at home and abroad.” And the Brazilian also confessed that he would not be against playing as a lone striker if Roberto Mancini deployed him there. “I wouldn't have any problems because at Parma I always played alone in attack. “And there are a lot of good midfielders at Inter,” he concluded.
