Inter ace Obafemi Martins has rejected the chance to play for Cameroon by insisting he is totally Nigerian. Cameroon had hoped to convince the striker to opt for them after he turned down the chance to represent Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations. "I was born in Lagos and I am therefore totally Nigerian," said the 20-year-old sensation. "I want to play for Nigeria and I will do. "I consider Nigeria to be a strong footballing nation and I want to help to make them an even better side." Cameroon were hoping that Martins, thanks to the origins of his parents, would play for them in this month’s friendly against the Ivory Coast. Martins is considered as one of African football’s brightest prospects after he burst onto the Italian scene last season. He’s scored some crucial goals but he also gives the Italian side an extra attacking option with his unbelievable pace. Martins decided to not respond to Nigeria’s international call last month as he didn’t want to be away from Inter at this crucial stage of the season.
